I am finally going to force myself to sit down and type out my thoughts of Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows. Here we go...
Some generalizations first. Overall, I enjoyed the book. It was a wonderful read and I will definitely be reading it again at some point (especially since I read through it rather quickly the first time). I found the first part of the book to be really good, the second part kind of dragged and the last part really, really good (as in I couldn't put the book down sort of good. It reminded me of when I read through Prisoner of Azkaban for the first time). I was, however, disappointed at the ending of the book.
Bah...I would love to get into specifics as well as discussing whether or not my "theories" actually happened in the book. However, spoiler tags don't seem to want to work in the blog and I don't really want to post them out in the open like that. Hopefully I can get that sorted out soon. Oh well, maybe my better half, the King of Sparta, knows what to do about that little problem. After all, I am just the messenger...
Anyway, as for the Harry Potter series as a whole, it was AMAZING! They are books I definitely would love for my children to read. I've also read them multiple times and thoroughly enjoy them every single time I read them. I read the first book 6 years ago this summer. The only reason I did is because I worked in a bookstore and I wanted to know what all the hype was about. I honestly didn't think I would enjoy, especially since my pet name for the series had become "Harry Pothead" (how original, eh?). I couldn't put the first book down once I started. Same with the second...and third...and so on. Now that I am done the series, Prisoner of Azkaban and Order of the Phoenix rank as my two favourites. Chamber of Secrets is my least favourite but, nonetheless, still a great read. I'm sad the series has come to an end but at least I know I can still go back and enjoy the books whenever I want to.
Sorry for a not-so-exciting review of the latest book though. It would have been much better had I not had to be so general but I don't want to spoil it for people who haven't read it (I know, I have given a spoiler alert but how many times have you accidentally stumbled across something you didn't want to know? I don't really want to take my chances).
