A Rock Band Party...

Posted by CivilWar Fangirl

I know, I know...it's been awhile since an actual post not relating to birthdays or when some muchanticipated pictures are going to be posted! ;)

Things have been a little busy. Last Friday (August 8th), we celebrated both our birthdays by having a few friends over for some Rock Band. Our challenge before we had six people over, however, was SPACE. As some of you know, our apartment is not very big. Luckily, we have a sectional couch. My knack for interior design (ha ha ha ;) ) plus a willing person (Jeremy) to help me move the pieces of the couch resulted in the space we needed to host a Rock Band party.

Me in our living room after moving the furniture. Notice all the space!
And all the instruments are set up and ready to go!
Our second challenge came when we were playing Rock Band. This is a FUN game. Couple this with a few guests who are slightly intoxicated and/or very excited about playing (as was the case with one of our friends), and things can get a little rowdy! Trying to set up a band AND pick out a song to play became a hilarious challenge. The guitarists would push all the buttons causing menus to go backwards and forwards...the drummer would drum, having the same effect as the guitarists...and it would always end with Jeremy or myself (or both of us), shouting STOP to our overzealous bandmates. It provided a good laugh though and, in the end, many songs were played and fun was had by everyone! I managed to belt out Baba O'Reily and Won't Get Fooled Again and of course Jeremy did More Than A Feeling. And who can forget Anderson's performance of Enter Sandman with him singing "take my hand!" over and over at the end with Ray saying "someone take his fricken hand!". Well, maybe it's a "you had to be there" moment but it was hilarious nonetheless.

Anderson on the drums. Amanda (Anderson's wife) and Lin (Kevin's wife) watching/dancing.

Lara and I on vocals (we ended up having to get really close so the mic would pick up our vocals. We were pretty much hugging by the end of the song. It washilarious!). Ray and Kevin on bass and guitar. Anderson on drums.

I think it was the best birthday party I've ever had. And you can be sure we're going to have another Rock Band party again too. Hopefully this will happen when Rock Band 2 is released. With this game, only the band leader can control the menus and, unless the band leader is overzealous and/or intoxicated, this will make game set-up a MUCH smoother process! ;)

Did you keep your place that way or change it back?

Looks like lots of fun. Glad you had good birthdays!

I tried to keep it the way we had it for the party but *somebody* insisted we change it back to the way it was before. ;) Oh well..that couch is not coming with us when we move (it was here when Jeremy first moved in).

Both of us had a great time though.

Speaking of birthdays and fun, looking forward to tomorrow! :)

Glad you guys had good birthdays.

I should hopefully have my 360 back this week or a "new" one anyways.

Yep, Seth Rogen is Canadian. He's from BC, which isn't surprising given his love of all things pot. lol :P

Looked at the pics from Andrew's wedding. A) I couldn't recognize him and B) is that shirt and khaki's combo Jeremy's wedding uniform? lol
