One Week!

Posted by CivilWar Fangirl

One more week and my 15 week internship will be complete! I can't believe how quickly time has gone by.

So, what have I got accomplished in my time at the archives?

  • A 113 page Disaster Management Plan (which, I'm hoping, they will never have to use!)
  • Over 230 artifacts documented (descriptions, photographed, packed, etc)
  • Environmental dataloggers for recording temperature and relative humidity have been "brought back to life", as my supervisor says.
  • A "how-to" manual for the dataloggers (okay, almost done...just need to edit!)

Next week, I'll wrap up work with the artifacts, make the changes to the disaster plan, do a "how to" sheet for cataloguing the artifacts, and tie up some other loose ends. I'm also doing a presentation of the Disaster Plan at the staff meeting on Wednesday.

Overall, the internship has been a great experience! I loved working at the Archives and I really enjoyed it. If I could find a job in an Archives, I'm sure I would be happy there.

And what happens when I'm done? Well, there is a job I'm applying for in London at a museum there. If that falls through, I've got some volunteer work lined up at the museum here in Goderich and I can also pick up a few hours at my uncle's bookstore. I know option B isn't going to bring much money but the volunteer experience is still good.

Too late ;). Here I am, working at home for the day. I took a look at the forecast and decided I didn't want to drive home in freezing rain. I'm a wimp, I know ;).

The weather is looking good for Saturday though :)
