Too Much...

Posted by CivilWar Fangirl

Over the past few days, I've been unpacking and getting things organized. I've discovered in doing this many things, including this: I HAVE WAY TOO MANY CLOTHES!

To begin, I decided to get rid of all the clothes that don't fit. In short, I've lost a lot of weight in the past year and a lot of my clothes do not fit me anymore. That included all my old work clothes. Now that made quite the pile.

Secondly, I thought that while I am getting rid of all the clothes that don't fit me, I'll get rid of the clothes I know I am never going to wear again. Another huge pile was created.

I just finished adding more clothes to the pile and that's when I came to the conclusion, I have way too many clothes. Honestly though, why keep stuff that doesn't even fit or I don't even want to wear anymore? It's basically made me want to cut back on the amount of clothing I buy or have at any given time. I know, I know...it's hard to believe this is being said by a female ;).

For clothes that I generally wear, I have enough of those (jeans, t-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, etc) BUT my work clothes are a little lacking and with this internship less than two weeks away, I need to get on that. I am not going to let myself buy a lot of stuff though. I'll just get what I need. My new rule is also going to be every time I do buy something new for fun or cause I think it looks cool, I'll get rid of a piece of clothing that I've had for awhile. If I need a reminder of why I am going this, I will refer to the picture of the pile of clothes in my room (which I am going to take soon) and realize, I never need to own that many clothes again.

My dilemma now is getting rid of the big pile of clothes in my room right now. I have some options:

  • My aunt loves my wardrobe (why? I don't know) and very happily takes clothes I no longer want off my hands. She loves it and I'm sure she'll take some of this stuff.
  • Any of my friends are welcome to them as well. Basically, these clothes are up for grabs for anyone interested.
  • There's a few consignment shops in town that pay for clothing. I'm thinking about taking some of the stuff there.
  • My mum is always giving stuff to Cerebral Palsy or Canadian Diabetes Association. I'll give stuff to them as well.
  • There is also the Salvation Army & St. Vincent de Paul in town.
I actually didn't mind going through my old clothes. I had some of those "I actually wore that?" moments. Some of the clothes I found made me laugh. Other things made me want to out-right cry ;).
