Well, sort of! Today I registered in an online course through the University of Toronto Faculty of Information Studies. The course is for an certificate in Records & Information Management. They also offer the course right at U of T but it's easier (and not to mention cheaper!) to do the course online.
The course runs from March 24 to May 12, 2008. Click here for more information about the course. Yes, it might sound boring but it's something I'm interested in and many of the jobs I've looked at list a certificate in records management as one of the qualifications. I love the idea of having a job as a records manager, and it doesn't have to be at a museum or archives; many of the jobs I've looked at are in a corporate records environment. Hopefully, getting this certificate will open more doors for me when it comes to getting a job.
There is an intermediate records management course I can take after this one. I'll see how this one goes though first. One of my friends took the course a few years ago and enjoyed it. Another friend of mine is taking it this year as well, but he's actually going to be taking it at U of T.
Speaking of jobs, I have an interview on February 2 (a Saturday!) at the Secrets of Radar Museum in London, Ontario. I applied for the job a couple weeks ago and they contacted me over the weekend. I'm looking forward to the experience of just having an interview!
