Well, it's been an up and down month for video gaming on the Xbox 360. First, yes, we managed to grab a copy of the very-hard-to-find Rock Band on 12/21/2007 for some awesome rocking out. Check out the list of songs! That's the good stuff....
Now, anyone who is familiar with the Xbox 360 knows that they are prone to the 'red rings of death' indicating a general hardware failure. My first Xbox lasted a year then died. I sent it back (under warranty) and received a replacement. On 12/27/2007 I called and ordered my second 'coffin' (a shipping box from Microsoft) to send in my second Xbox 360 as the disc drive was making a horrible noise. Then, this happened:
So, the shipping box was on the way. No big deal. We've got Mary's Xbox 360 (thankfully!), and mine will be back shortly, right? WRONG! Check this out (current as of today):
12.27.2007 - Called Xbox Customer Support
01.02.2008 - Received coffin
01.04.2008 - Sent Xbox back
01.08.2008 - Xbox received by Microsoft
01.15.2008 - Refurbished Xbox received back (one month Live subscription included). It doesn't turn on. Call Xbox Support. Another shipping box on the way.
01.17.2008 - Received coffin and a phone call from 'Birgie' at Xbox Canada to make sure I received it. Sent back via Purolator.
01.18.2008 - Xbox received by Microsoft
Ya like that? They sent me a DEAD console! Yikes. What a nightmare that was trying to explain to these people that it wouldn't turn on. Anyway, I now have an 'agent' assigned to my case who will check in periodically to see how things are going. At least I'll likely get some free stuff for my troubles.
Stay tuned for more...
